Ready to get all those big ideas out of your head and onto the page? In the brainstorming process, you learn how to visualize the book idea and place yourself within a genre so you know where you’re headed. Do the careful thought work in the Idea Phase so you don’t get 20,000 words in only to realize this is not the book you wanted to write. Confirm the concept. 

Plan the Structure of Your Book with Susy Flory
With your book idea clear in your mind, you move into the Planning Phase with a bird’s eye view of the whole project. Understanding structure helps to clarify your purpose for writing and ensures you’ll meet the needs of your readers by creating a journey through your content that makes sense. Thinking through the big picture enables you to guide your reader through to the end to reach the transformation they desire.  

Organize Your Chapter Content with Melanie Chitwood 
Once the structure is in place, it’s time to take on the chapters in the Organizing Phase. You will learn to use the prewriting stage to set the stage for successful chapter writing .  Using an outline framework for your book and chapters will help you craft your introduction and conclusion. The tools you’ll gain from this workshop will enable you to write your chapter—right now! —and propel you forward to write an entire manuscript. 


Strengthen Your Writing Skills with Kate Motaung 
The Writing Phase at last! Let’s define the specifics of your writing project so you can create a realistic schedule with achievable deadlines. Having committed to the process, you begin to write. As you write, you will discover your writing style and your unique voice. Use the writing tips presented to strengthen your writing as you continue to hone your skills.  

Self-Edit like a Pro with Mindy Kiker 
While writing the first draft, you get it out as quickly as possible without nitpicking at the copy, but now your first draft needs to be tidied up. In the Editing Phase, you examine the concepts for logic, clarity, and flow, gradually moving in to address the details of copy editing and polishing the language. Banish the bunny trails! Once you’ve self-edited as best you can, you will seek the help of a professional editor.  

Publishing Demystified with Jennifer Kochert
You’re on the brink of holding that book in your hands, but first you need to figure out which publishing option is right for your project. In the Publishing Phase, you assess the merits of traditional and self-publishing and choose your lane. This can feel overwhelming for first-time authors, but we expose the common myths about publishing and provide the clarity you need to get your book out to your readers.

Meet Your Retreat Hosts
Mindy Kiker and Jenny Kochert, co-founders of FlourishGathering and FlourishWriters, are passionate to help women grow in God’s Word. Together they have authored and published numerous Bible Studies and devotionals, workshops, online conferences and training courses. For those desiring to share their God Story in writing, Jenny and Mindy are guides who help birth stories from the heart to the page.

Can I watch the conference on any device?
The videos are designed to function on all computers and mobile devices. If you are unable to view the content on one device, try another. What if I can't attend live on October 26-27, 2019?
Go ahead and register (and join the Facebook group) so you get access to all the free content and give away's. Where do I find the live presentations? 
When you register for the retreat, you'll receive the link for our private Facebook group.
